Enough

"You belong, lovely one, because you belong to Him." -Lisa Bevere

As women one of the biggest struggles in our hearts is that of being enough.

Pretty enough, smart enough, funny enough, skinny enough, strong enough... all while trying not to be too much. How many times have I sat with a friend as she came to the conclusion, through tear stained cheeks, that the root of all her problems is "I've never been good enough". About as many times as I have come to this conclusion myself. It wasn't until I allowed God to show me exactly how He saw me that I realized it was never about me.

So often we are told that God is a father but for many of us this analogy is as hurtful as it is empty.

We are told He is a friend but we have been burned so badly by those who we once called companion.

He is compared to so many of our human relationships but in a broken world full of hurting people these associations fall short of what we long for.

We are dying for someone to tell us how much we are worth and tell us we are valued.

Someone who can love us with pure unfaltering motives, someone we can lose ourselves with. Each time we lay these expectations on others we will be left empty.
Relationships were never made to fill the void meant for God, but to be a bonus after He holds our hearts. It has never been about you measuring up, for your worth is not dependent on how many people you can convince to stay.

Your father being absent (physically or emotionally), was never about you.
Your mother that never learned how to nurture, was never about you.

Your boyfriend taking advantage of the intimacy you gave him, was never about you.

You, beautiful, have always been enough, always. You alone were enough to die for.
Your infinite worth can only be defined by the truth that the God of the universe is completely mesmerized by you. The only one who can tell you how valuable you are is the one who created you.

He thinks you're perfect, he thinks you're beautiful, flawless, funny, smart, caring, strong, powerful. In his eyes you are more than enough, he will never stop fighting for you and he will always want you.

Moving this revelation from a truth for everyone else to a truth for you takes healing, lots of healing, and trust. It takes you allowing God to romance your heart. One of my favorite sayings is, God is a gentleman He's not going to force Himself on you. He is gentle and He knows the condition of your heart. Trust takes time and it takes getting to know someone on an intimate level. Go there and let healing start, it can be scary but it's also one of the most incredible things I have ever experienced. You have the authority to reclaim everything that has been taken from you and you're worth it. You are worth the fight.

It's time for you to start believing that you were made for greatness.

Song of Songs 4:7 "All beautiful, you are my darling, there is no flaw in you."
